2002 Mineland Reclamation Tree Plots near Eveleth, Minnesota Contact
225 Soil Science Research The study of both the applied and the fundamental aspects of waste management including the beneficial use of waste materials in agricultural, horticulture, mineland reclamation and forestry are my main areas of interest. Specific materials studied include sewage sludge, ash, cement kiln dust, yard wastes, fish waste, food waste, municipal solid waste and various forms of industrial and demolition wastes. Some of the methods of managing wastes that I have work on include composting, direct soil incorporation, co-application, specific tailored mixes, recycling, and waste reduction. Bioremediation of contaminated sites, improved soil stabilization in road construction and the reclamation of mineland are topics that I am currently studying. My goal is to develop, conduct, and evaluate educational programs that address waste management issues in new and better ways. |
