162 Borlaug Hall Teaching The target audiences for extension educational programs are diverse and primarily educators themselves: County Extension Agents, vocational agriculture teachers; agency field staff such as the Natural Resource Conservation Service, Pollution Control Agency, Soil and Water District Staff, Department of Natural Resources, and loan officers; as well as farmers. The following is a list of primary teaching objectives for these audiences: 1) To teach the principles of soil physical properties and how they change with tillage; 2) to evaluate the effects of tillage on utilization of manure and legume resources as well as fertilizer management; 3) to assess their interactions as they relate to crop growth, development, yield and environmental quality concerns; and 5) to present this information in the context of an economic priority so as to provide opportunities for farmers to maximize their returns while reducing production inputs and minimizing negative environmental impacts. |
