Research

I have two areas of specialization. The first is Pedology, which is the study of soils and landscapes. I'm particularly interested in processes of soil development and landscape evolution.

My second area of interest is environmental chemistry, with particular interest in the biogeochemistry of pollutants. Over the last 10 or so years I've concentrated mainly on the terrestrial biogeochemistry of mercury, particularly in northern forested landscapes.
